About us
BORGO SHOP
Borgo Shop is a natural continuation of the successful project of the Borgo Agnese restaurant, also located in the Anenské Terasy building in Brno on Kopečná Street. The restaurant was launched and has been run by head chef and co-owner Mr. Michal Prachař since 2008.
It is a very cozy little shop offering not only Italian products. At Borgo Shop, you can relax with a glass of wine or enjoy a high-quality MUSETTI coffee, which is also available to go. You'll find a wide selection of the finest wines, which we can gift wrap for you along with other delicacies.

History of the Place and Present Day
The building where Borgo Shop is located is newly constructed on the very site where the history of the city of Brno began. This history dates back to the 1st millennium, when the area was first settled by the Old Slavs. In the 13th century, the area was known as “Rope-Maker’s Hill” (Provaznický vršek), where the parish Church of All Saints once stood. The first mention of the church comes from the year 1620, when a burgher named Rudolf donated it to the Cistercian nuns of Oslavany, who held patronage rights until 1532. The church later came under the ownership of the city of Brno and was destroyed in 1645 during the siege by the Swedes.
Nearby, at the foot of Špilberk Hill, a settlement known as Bruno Antiqua – Old Brno – emerged in the early 13th century. The current name of the city is believed to derive from the Old Slavic word “brn” or “brnje,” meaning mud or marsh, likely referencing the muddy conditions along the banks of the Svratka River at the time.
